RATIONS FOR STRIKERS.

HOSPITAL BOARD URGED TO REFUSE. INDIGNATION EXPRESSED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Strong disagreement was expressed by several members of tho North Canterbury Hospital Board to-day when a letter was read from the Director-General of Health urging all hospital boards to refuse charitable aid and relief to all men who had gone on strike or who reSused work under the Unemployment Board's scheme. The Rev. J. K. Archer said the Director-General should mind his own business. He had no right to dictate to the board. Other members said tho board got money from the Government and could not go against it. Mr. W. J. Walter said women and children must be fed, whether men went on strike or not. Tho chairman, Mr. H. J. Otley, agreed, and added that it was impossible to do that without feeding the men as well. The subject was a difficult one. The letter was received.
