WET WEATHER PAY.

MOUNT ALBERT DEPUTATION. The council of the Mount Albert Borough, received a deputation from the local Unemployed Relief Association last night, when the matter of wet weather pay to relief workers under No. 5 scheme was discussed. The leader of the deputation said that as the present rate of pay was inadequate, the loss of work during wet weather would impose further hardship. Ho was of the opinion that so long as the men turned out on wet days and stood by they should be entitled to receive wages without having to make up tlie time. The Mayor, Mr. W. F. Stihvell, said the matter would have to have official consideration. Six hundred relief workers had been employed during the last six months, and the engineer had been instructed that only applications residents in the borough were to be considered. The works committee is to furnish a report.
