FURTHER REPORT.
CAPTAIN OF FRENCH LINER. LONDON, May 23. A Paris message states that a supplementary report of' Captain Vicq, commander of the liner Georges Philippar, which was abandoned in flames in the Gulf of Aden last Monday, discloses that an electric alarm communicating with the bullion room mysteriously sounded for the first time eight days before the disaster. The alarm sounded a second time half an hour before the fire. Officers immediately inspected the bullion on both occasions, but found no signs of any tampering. The liner carried ingots of gold worth £30,000. ° Captain Vicq adds that some firelighting apparatus curiously proved to be empty when the lire started. He states that he inspected all the first and second-clr ;s cabins which were accessible iwfore leaving the ship, but he found nobody. He spent the whole morning superintending the rescue of survivors.
