ORANGES BY MARIPOSA. EGGS LOWER IN PRICE. BANANAS ARE CHEAPER. A few oranges as well as grapefruit from California arrived by the Mariposa yesterday. The Sydney steamer also brought further supplies of oranges as well as other citrus fruits. Large quantities of cooking apples continue to be sent in, and only realise low prices. Smaller supplies of Delicious apples are now coming to hand, but values still remain low for tiiat variety. Local tomatoes meet with fair demand, and supplies are not heavy. Bananas and oranges arc meeting with good inquiry, but lemons are slow of sale. Demand for hothouse grapes is only fair this week. Quotations arc:— Apples: Delicious, 2/ to 4/ case; Munroes, 2/ to 3/; Jonathan, 2/0 to 0/0; Ballarats, 2/6 to 4./; Northern Spy, 2/0 to 4/6; Granny Smith, 3/0 to 5/. Pears: Keiffers, 2/ to 3/0; Coles and Nelis, 6/ to ,7/0; Vicars, 3/; P. Barrys, 30 to 4/. Lemons: 5/ to 8/. Persimmons: 2/0 to 3/. Cape gooseberries; 2Vid to 3d per lb. Passions: 4/ to 8/ case. Tomatoes: Local, choice, smooth, 5/ to 7/0; others, 2/ to 4/; hothouse, 5/ to 9/; Hutts, 4/ _to 4/0. Grapes: Column, extra choice, 1/5 to 1/7 lb; others, 1/ to 1/4; Australian, white, 15/ case. Tree tomatoes: 3/ to 5/6 case. Mushrooms: Per tin, 8/ to 12/. Bananas: No. 1, 13/ to 14/ case; mediums, 11/; No. 2, 6/9 to 7/. Oranges: Californian, 35/6 to 38/ case; Australian, 9/ to 12/; Island, repacks, 15/ to 21/, according to count. Australian mandarins: 9/ to 12/ case. Pines: 15/ to 18.'. Vegetables. 'Southern potatoes 011 the spot are in short supply, and prices firmed accordingly. Very large quantities ot pumpkins, kumaras and pie melons continue to come to market, and have to be cleared at cheap rates. The market is also heavily supplied with cabbage, celery and rhubarb. Cauliflower, runner beans and onions are in ample supply.
Quotations are: — Potatoes, Southern, 7/3 to 7/9 cwt; local, 3/6 to 4/6 bag; onions, Southern, 8/ to 9/6 cental; I'ukekohe, 11/6 to 13/6 cental; kumaras, local, 2/3 to 3/3 bag; Tauranga, 2/ to 2/9 bag; cabbage, 1/6 to 4/ sack; cauliflower, 3/0 to 7/0 sack; swedes, 1/ to 2/ bag; pumpkins, 2/ to 0/ cwt; citron melons, 2 / to 3/6 sack; green peas, 5/ to 12/ bag; beans, 3/0 to 6/6 bag; lettuce, Oil to 2'o case; cucumbers, to 5/ dozen; vegetable marrows, 1/6 to 2/6 dozen; cabbage, loose, 1/ to 2/0 dozen; cauliflower, loose, 2/0 to 5/ dozen; celery, 4d to 1/6 bundle; rhubarb, 9d to 2/0 dozen; spinach, 6d dozen; pumpkins, loose, 2d to 8d each; radish, 6d dozen; spring onions. 3d to.8(1 bundle; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, 4d to 8d dozen; Brussels sprouts, 2d to 3d lb; leeks, 2d to 4d bundle. Butter and Eggs. Supplies of eggs have only been moderate, but with higher prices ruling there was less demand. Prices eased to 2/Wi per dozen for lirst grade hen eggs; 1/llM: for B grade, and l/BVfe for C grade. Duck eggs are 2/OVi per dozen for firstgrade, 1/10'/j for B grade, and 1/8% for C grade.
Farmers' butter sells from 8d to lid per lb, according to quality. Poultry. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultry was small and the demand was fair. The prices paid remain about level. Selling rates were as follow: —Gockere s, heavy breeds, prime, 2/0 to 4/9 each; not prime, 1/0 up; light breeds, prune, 1/0 to 3/; not prime, 1/ up; fat roosters,, heavy breeds, prime, 1/6 to 2/; light breeds, 1/3 to 1/9; fat hens, heavy breeds, 1/9 to 2/3; light breeds, 1/3 to 1/6; pullets, heavy breeds, best, 3/ to 5/6; smaller, 1/6 up; light breeds, best, 3/ to .>/0; smaller, 1/0 up; drakes, young, prime. 1/9 to 2/6; smaller, 1/ up; ducks, young. 2/3 to 2/6; old, 2/ to 2/9; drakes, old, 1/0 to 1/J. WELLINGTON PRICES. Messrs.
