Gay Cockade worked very freely over a round, which he covered in 1.52 1-5, the ; last six furlongs taking 1.23 2-5. This , horse is improving daily. Patutalii was allotted a similar task, averaging about 15s to the furloug. Sunny Sky was sent six furlongs with Operatic as a mate, running the first three furlongs in 41 3-ss, , and the full distance in 1.25 2-5. Sunny Sky worked pleasingly, being under a strong pull throughout. Royal Survey ran liis first three furlongs in 30s, got to the end of six furlongs in 1.20 2-5. This hack is in first-rate order for the approaching meeting. Royal Gallant and Marching Song, going easily, completed six furlongs in 1.26, and Mahkill, after commencing slowly, strode over a similar distance in 1.30 '2-5. Tarporley was holding Rose La-tour at the end of five furlongs, run in 1.10 3-5. They began slowly, but registered 53 2-5s for the last half-mile. Rose Latour was very lame after returning to the stalls, and appeared In a bad way. Corinax and Moonfleet ran home from the half-mile post in 53 3-ss, Corinax pleasing most. Manawlienua was nearly a length ahead of Hampton Park at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.10 3-5. Both horses worked well, recording the best time for this distance during the morning. Vandyke was in front of Neil at the end of a round, run in 1.57. the last six furlongs taking 1.25 4-5. Gay Court jumped off at the five-furlong post, running his first two furlongs in 25 3-ss, and finished up his task in 1.7 1-5. Paris and Irish Chieftain were several lengths m front of Taramoa in ft work-out over six furlongs, which took 1.26 4-5. Cat-i-mes worked twice round, but was not tuned, and Kaihoremai did strong work over six furlongs. I'svclioiogist was several lengths in front of Taneriri after traversing six furlongs in 1.20. Taneriri worked lazily. Little Doubt, who is looking a Picture, sprinted down the straight. Clontarf Bill covered half a mile in 58 2-ss. He was going comfortably at the finish. 1 oujours was in front of Silene, with Glenhaupo several lengths away, at the finish of six furlongs in 1.22 3-5. They went fast in the early part of the gallop, covering the fr-st three furlongs in 395. Dominican and General Lu worked over a round rind three furlongs, running the distance in 2.41, the final round taking 1.59. Dominican pleased most. Billy Boy strode over 11 round in 2.t>, the last six furlongs taking 1.33. He worked nicely and could have gone a lot faster. Full Measure did strong work on the sand, running liis last seven furlongs in 1.42, the nn.ai nan-mile talcing 1.56.- Master Lu also worked on this track, covering a couple of rounds, the last seven furlongs occupying 1.40 1-5. Tha Jumpers. Thunderstorm (Chaplin) and Spring Abbey (Olive) were schooled over four hurdles on the course proper. The former gave the better display, but there is room for improvement in both. Absent (Craddock) and Town Beauty (H. Dulieu) were s#it over five hurdles on this track, giving .11 safe display, though Absent made a fdilty jump at the obstacle along the back. Professor (T. Chaplin) cleared a couple of pony hurdles twice, giving a very encouraging display for a beginner. Royal Reign (Olive) and Consort (F. Hall) were companions over the steeplechase course. Consort came ,to grief at the first fence on the hill, but was afterwards remounted and jumped the second fence on the hill, and the stonewall at the foot of the hill. He was then pulled 011' to the sand track. Royal Reign went on alone, giving a fair display for a first attempt over this country. Cat dm a was out doing walking exercise on the lead in the centre, of the course, and appears to be improving. The Southern horseman W. J. Bowden has been engaged to ride Billy Boy •in the Great Northern Steeplechase. Other horses to do useful work were Claremore, Carlaris, Tetrarchate, Charsong, Ornamental, Jewelled Girdle, Vilma, Wishbone, Good Idea, Hawthorn, Beau Cavalier, Apache and Cynthia N.
