BAG SNATCHED.
YOUNG MAN'S DISAPPEARANCE THEFT FROM! WOMAN. CHASE AT MOUNT ALBERT. Although he was chased, a young man who snatched a woman's handbag in Gladstone Road, Mount Albert, early on Saturday evening, managed to escape. The thief secured only a few shillings. Jlis. A. Phillips, of Pukekolie, and her mother, Mrs. W. Darlow, of Mount Albert, were walking towards the tram terminus when a young man snatched Tilrs. Phillips' bag. Both women called for help, and Mrs. Phillips gave chase. Mrs. G. Mcßride, of Gladstone Road, also went in pursuit. The thief got away. • It is believed that three other young men were concerned in the matter. One was in front of Mrs. Mcßride's gate when the alarm was given, but when appealed to he gave no assistance. Two other youths who were in the street at the time of the incident disappeared immediately afterwards. The Auckland detective office was immediately communicated with, and a detective visited the district.
