GOODS FOUND IN ROOM.
THEFT CHARGE FOLLOWS.
SALESMAN REMANDED
The theft of three bolts of crepe de chine, three pairs of kid gloves, two furs, a bedroom clock, seven imitation diamond rings, and other articles, of a total value of £20, belonging to persons unknown, was brought against Norman Davis, salesman, aged 32, at the Police Court to-day. Detective Sergeant Kelly obtained a remand until May 25.
Counsel asked for bail. "What are the circumstances?' inquired Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Detective Hamilton said the articles referred to in the charge were discovered in Davis , room when it was searched yesterday. "This property he says ne bought in Hamilton a year ago," said the detective, "but he has been out of work, and it is well known that he has borrowed .noney from members of the detective staff." The magistrate allowed bail in the sum of £100.
