TRAINING COLLEGE.

PROPOSED CHANGE-OVER. OBJECTION BY BOARD. The proposal of the Auckland University College Council for the taking over of teachers training colleges by the University was before the Auckland Education Board at the last meeting and referred to a committee. The committee reported at to-day's meeting that it was of opinion that the suggestion should be the subject of a strong protest from the board. The report was adopted, and the chairman (Mr. A. Burns), Mr. T. U. Wells, and the secretary (Mr. D. W. Dunlop), were appointed to draw up the reasons for the board's objection. One of the chief reasons for the objection was that the trainees arc servants of "che Board of Education, and if the University took over the trainin"- colleges there would be divided control. Another reason was that the trainees required practical instruction and that could only be obtained under the board.
