TELEPHONE THEFTS.
MEN CAUGHT RED-HANDED. ONE SENT TO PRISON. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Arnold Aloysius Haggitt (35) and Ernest William Walter Haggitt (37) were to-day charged with interfering with the working of the telephone fivstem. The former was also charged with the theft of goods, also six bicycles. Accused were caught red-handed while interfering with a telephone box and when arrested had 62 pennies in their possession.. Tho police stated that since February 40 telephone boxes had been broken open at night. The magistrate sentenced Arnold Haggitt to 12 months in gaol on the first charge and six months for theft, the sentences to be cumulative. The other accused was remanded for tho probation officer's report.
