NEW- YORK GRAFT. TAMMANY DENOUNCED. JUDGE'S SCATHING COMMENT. Tammany Hall, the Democratic organisation whose political machine runs New York, is bitterly denounced by Judge Samuel Seabury in an indictment for graft and bribery presented to the State Legislature in Albany. Judge Seabury's report is based on 37 public hearings before the Hofstadter Legislative Committee, which is investigating reports of fortunes amassed by the Tammany district leaders.
Commenting on the misgovernment which made these big bank accounts possible, Judge Seabury says: "It is perfectly apparent that what these men did is part of the system upon which Tammany Hall exists, that Tammany approves it, and is ready to do its utmost to perpetuate a sordid traffic in political influence."
