TOOK NO OFFICIAL PART.
I ORGANISATIONS OF PUBLIC SERVICE. STATEMENT BY SECRETARY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Public Service organisations took no official part in yesterday's conference held in Wellington under the auspices of the Labour movement, according to Mr. F. W. Millar, general secretary of the Public Service Association, who j passed through Christchurch this morning. "The combined Public Service organisations, representing over 50,000 public servants," he said, "were invited to attend the Labour movement's industrial conference to discuss what policy or policies shall be adopted by the wage workers of the Dominion to combat the proposal of the Government and employers to enforce further wage cuts. The central committee of the combined Public Service organisations definitely decided not to participate in the conference, so the statement appearing in the newspapers associating the Public Service with any deliberations of the conference is not correct." Two organisations included in the nine Public Service organisations had already agreed to attend the conference as individual bodies, but 011 the definite understanding that the policy being adopted by the combined Public Service organisations would be the sole basis of their participation in the conference."
