FARMERS' UNION.
OTOROHANGA ACTIVITIES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) OTOROHANGA, Friday. At the annual meeting of the Otorohanga branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union held to-day the following officers were elected: —President, Mr. S. A. Cook; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. O'Brien, V. W. Simms; secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. L. Browne; executive, Messrs. Cook, O'Brien, Simme, H. A. Lurman, K. F. Maynard, W. Nelson, J. Duncan and C. L. Browne; delegates to Northern King Country conference, Messrs. Simms, Cook, O'Brien, Browne and Lurman; delegate on local relief committee, Mr. Lurman. The chairman said that the financial members totalled 130, the largest membership in the King Country. It was decided to hold three or four lectures in the winter and to try to run these in association with the W.E.A. A discussion on free trade with Britain arose out of a motion deploring the branch's attitude in favouring this, and the motion was lost by a large majority, only the mover and seconder supporting it. The branch favours free trade with Britain and advocates that a supporter 1 of this policy be sent as a delegate to I Conference. 1
