BEACH CUSTOMS

TAKAPUNA COUNCIL'S DECISION. Complaint was made to the Takapuna Borough Council last evening concerning the practice of some bathers of lowering their swimming costumes to the waistline. It was stated that, thus attired, a considerable number of beach habitues continually paraded the beach, and even the adjacent side streets. The Mayor, Mr. J. Guiniven, said that the matter had been brought under his notice by the police, who were concerned at the growth of the practice. The council resolved to seek the co-operation of the police in the suppression of what is considered to bo an undesirable evasion of the borough by-laws.
