UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM.
The problem of unemployment durlnfr the winter months Is engaging- the attention or most of the civilised countries ol the world. New Zealand Perpetual Forests, Ltd., are assisting In Its solution tn New Zealamt with their 200 square miles or sortwood plantations. The maintenance or these areas, and the planting or further areas, requires the services or approximately tooo men during the winter season, and necessitates the paying or nearly £100,000 per annum In wages. When pulp and paper making mills are established the number of men and women employed will naturally be increased Dy several thousand. — (d.) ,
