BOMB VENGEANCE. MELBOURNE OUTRAGE Front of Detective's House Wrecked. SLEEPING FAMILY UNHURT. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Early this morning the home of Detective Dunn at St. Kilda, a Melbourne suburb, was bombed, the front of the house being wrecked. The family, who were asleep, were uninjured. Detective Dunn hae been active in inquiries concerning Communists. It is thought that the, bombing was in the nature of a reprisal. Fire brigades prevented the flames from completely destroying the home.

On November 9 a bomb placed under the mat of the leader of the Victorian Opposition, Sir Stanley Argyle, wrecked the front of the house and the verandah. Lady Argyle, her daughter, her niece and a maid, all of -whom had gone to bed for the night, were not injured. The outrage was thought to have been the outcome of feeling aroused by the Nationalist party, under Sir Stanley, in opposing the rates of pay provided for In the Unemployment Relief Bill. The. Victorian Government later offered a r-eward ot £250 for the apprehension of the bomb terrorists. Four Legislative Councillors/ including the unofficial leader, Dr. J. R. Harris, received threatening lettere about, the eaino time, and police protection was afforded for their homes. Mr. Justice Moule also received a very threatening telephone call. When, still later, Mr. H. Cohen, a member of the Legislative Council, was sent a menacing letter to the effect that he would be "put out of the way" if he further resisted the proposed relief rates of pay, a man named Saxon Fisher was arrested and charged with writing the letter. He was remanded, the police stating that he had admitted the offence.
