STAKES AT TRENTHAM.
A DRASTIC REDUCTION. APPROXIMATELY 50 PER CENT. . (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. A reduction, of approximately 50 per cent has been made in the stakes for the Wellington Racing Club'e summer meeting, the total being £6285, against £11,500 last year. The stake for the principal handicap, the Wellington Cup, has been reduced from £1500 (£950 and gold cup to the winner) to £750 (£6OO to the winner). For the . Telegraph Handicap the stake is £350, against £750, and for the Wellington Stakes £750, compared with £1000. Other events on the day are in proportion. On the second day the Racing Club Handicap is £500 (£350 to the winner). Oα the third day the principal handicap changes are the Consolation Handicap, which has been altered to the Summer Handicap, and the stake reduced from £500 to £350, and the City Handicap stake has been reduced from £500 to £250.
