TAKANINI TRIALS.

SOME GOOD SPRINTS. REFRESHER AND TEA CHAT GO FAST. The middle grass track was open at Takanini this morning, and eome useful eprints were recorded. The going was good, the track being unaffected by the recent rain.

Exaggeration (Gilmer) jumped off at the six-furlong roost, being assisted over the last five furlongs by Camp Princess (Taylor), who finished in front. The full distance was run in 1.17. White Wings (Mclnally) sprinted down the straight. Bugle Call (Grice) ran the last five of six furlongs in 1.5 3-5. Prolyxo (Jones) and Gay Marigold (Inglk) were given an easy five furlongs, which they ran in 1.6. Princess Star (Grice) got to the end of six furlongs in 1.16 2-5. Closing Time (Jones) and Timorous (Inglis) covered five furlongs in 1.4 2-5, the last half-mile taking 525. Both could have improved on this time. Bronze Eagle (Gray) worked over ten furlongs, but the pace was only on over the lact eix. which occupied 1.17. The beet five furlongs seen on this track for some time was recorded by Refresher (Inglis) aiid Tea Chat (Jones), who reeled off the distance in 1.1 2-5, the first halfmile taking 47 4-ss. Eaglet (Moore) and Vali (Edwards) were together throughout a mile, which took 1.44 4-5, the first half occupying 525. The former pleased most. Arch Ruler (Farrell) war; a dozen lengths

in front of Night Warrior (Gray) at the end of half a mile in 53 4-os. The former shaped well for a novice. High Comedy (Walters) and Royal Artist (Home) worked over seven furlongs, traversing the first half-mile at an easy pace, and running home over the last three furlongs in 37 1-56. Chief Jewel (Inglis) and Chief Joy (Jones) ran six furlongs in 1.16 3-5, both pleasing. Knight of Australia (Mclnally) was going easily alongside Sehizanthus (Burgess) at the finish of three furlongs in 37 1-os. Ganpat (Walters) was a length in front of Brazanna (Forsyth)

at the finkh of a nicely-run half-mile, which took 50s. Yoicke (Jones) and Letitia (Inglis) ran half a mile in 525, the former going the better or the pair. Bell Topper ! Gray) cov-ered three furlongs in 38 4-ss. Speedmint (Horne) sprinted up the straight at the end of a round of pace work. J. Gray has an addition to his stable in the shape of a Colossus gelding, who was sent up from Gicborne.

RIDING ENGAGEMENTS H. Gray will ride Pegaway, Karapoti. Taurua. Night Warrior and Chateau at the Waipa meeting. R. Home will be on Motere in the Te Awamutu Cup, and H. Dulieu will pilot Golden Wedding in the hurdles at the same fixture.
