£40,000,000 TO PROVIDE WORK. PAilliy, December 6. The chamber at 3.30 a.m. passed the National Development Bill under which £30,000,000 will be spent on puhlic works, plus £10,000,000 which the municipalities are to find to absorb the unemployed, of whom 124,587 are registered. There are 500,000 unregistered part-time workers. , BOOTLEGGING CHARGE. HOOVER'S BROTHER-IN-LAW. NEW YORK, December 6. ■After a short trial Cornelius Leavitt, brother-in-law of President Hoover, was found not guilty of being in illegal possession of diquor. Leavitt and a companion were arrested and charged at Santa Monica, California, on November 10.
