INSPECTOR RETIRES.
PRESENTATION BY TEACHERS. MR. N. R. McKENZIE'S SERVICE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH,' Sunday. Mr. N. R. McKenzie, who is retiring from the service of the Education Department after having filled with distinction the position of senior inspector of schools in North Taranaki, was farewelled by 120 teachers on Friday evening. Mr. J. A. Shimmin, president of the North Taranaki branch of the Teachers' Institute, presided. Among those present were the Mayor, Mr. H. V. S. Griffiths, Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., chairman, and members of the Taranaki Education Board. A presentation of .a silver tea service was made to Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie on behalf of the teachers. Mr. Smith said that as chairman of the Education Board he knew what great assistance the senior inspector's sympathetic outlook and broad knowledge had been to the board. Taranaki had been particularly fortunate in its senior inspectors, especially in Mr. McKenzie, who had had a very distinguished career.
