The following will be sent from Te Rapa:—Tradesman, Toujours, Limex, Hit the Deck, Ruby Dawn, Cargen, Cruachan, Advance Camp, Te Taone, Trowbridge, llluminelli and Palmares. FROM TAKANINI. Huntingdon, Lady Vane, King Willonyx, and Heremia were sent to Taumarunui last night. STABLE AND TRACK NOTES. AUCKLAND CUP CANDIDATES. Three prominent Auckland Cup candidates, Gay Crest, Compris and Gustavo, aro engaged in ithe Bolton Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at Woodville next week, and their form in the event will be carefully noted by those in search of a likely Auckland Cup winner. Both Gay Crest and Compris displayed good form at the New Zealand Cup meeting, and the pair arc sure to be in strong favour for the big race at Ellerslie, as they art proved stayers, and at the top of their form at the present time. , • SURE TO GET SUPPORT. Last season King Willonyx aeted as runner-up to Hakanoa in the Taumarunui Cup, and is due to contest that event again to-morrow. This horse was in good f6rm at the Whangarei meeting, where he won a race on each day of that fixture, and he is sure to get solid support in his coming engagement. King Willonyx ran unplaced in the Ngataringa Handicap at Takapuna on Monday, this being the only occasion that he has been out of a place this season, and he can be depended on to show up at the King Country meeting this week. WON LAST SEASON. At Te Rapa last month Cruachan ran a sterling race in the Waikato Cup, in which event he was out making the pace until the last furlong, but was beaten into .third place at the finish by Eaglet and Brampton. If the chestnut gelding runs up ito that form in ■ the Taumarunui Cup to-morrow he should be in the picture at the finish. He raced well on the King Country course last season, winning the President's Handicap, one ■ mile, in convincing style, and the public are sure to accord him plenty of support if he goes to the post in the mile and a quarter event. AT HIS BEST.* Arrow Lad raced well at the New Zealand Cup meeting, and it was not surprising to see that lie repeated that form at Feilding. In the Cup lie was beaten by King Colossus, but the next day lie won ' the St. Andrew's Handicap, nine furlongs, an event he was successful in last year. Arrow Lad will probably make his next appearance at the Manawatu summer meeting, and in his present form lie should take no end of beating in any race he contests from, six furlongs to a mile arid a quarter. - He won over the latter distance on that course last year. A HARD TASK. Hunting Cry has not had a race this season, but providing lie trains on satisI factorilv will be seen out at the Woodville ! mfeeting, where he figures in' the Oete | Handicap with 9.13. Last season the son I of Hunting Song also had his first race of ! the season at the Woodville meeting, winl ning the Railway Handicap en the second ' day under a similar impost, and at Jus j next start he accounted for the Railway Handicap, carrying 8.12. He has been handicapped in the last-named event to be run on Boxing Day at 9.4, and will have a hard task in front of him to ' repeat last year's performance.
MAY COME TO AUCKLAND. According to Southern roports. Admiral Drake is looking particularly well, and he weut a good mile and a quarter at Wingatill last Tuesday. If his owner is .atisficd with his weight (7.8) he will be brought to Auckland for the Auckland Cup. , SHOWS PROMISE. , The Sun, who was a fair performer on the flat, made his appearance as a hurdler at the Levin meeting, and ran fourth. He has not started since, but is among those engaged at the Woodville meeting. If he has improved in the meantime he should again give a good account of himself. SO»M OF CATMINT. Fairway, who finished second to Saltpot at Feilding, is a three-year-old gelding by Catmint from Merry Tiff, by Marble Arch, and is trained by A. E. Neale at Bulls. He has not done very much racing, but evidently he is going to turn out a useful sort: He won at Waverley on Labour Day, while he ran second to Lyrical at Levin last month. ENGAGED IN TWO EVENTS. Steady Fire claims a couple of engagements at Taumarunui to-morrow, and should pick up some stake-money during the meeting. He displayed a lot of speed in his contests at Te Ilapa last month, where he ran third in the Hautapu Handicap, and the racing there should benefit him. Tho Camp Fire gelding usually begins very quickly in his races, and this will assist him on tho King Country course at the end of tho week. ENGAGED AT WOODVILLE. King Colossus won the Kiocarton Handicap at the New Zealand Cup meeting in good style, and ran quite a fair race in the New Zealand Derby. On those performances he looked to have a good chance at Feilding, and his success in the Cup was not unanticipated. King Colossus is entered for the ttolton Handicap, the principal event at the Woodville meeting next week, but he will be meeting stronger opposition in that event. A GOOD TWO-YEAR.OLD. Pillow Fight was reported to be somewhat unlucky in his two starts previous to the Feilding meeting, but he made amends by the manner v in. which he annexed the Oroua Nursery at that fixture. So far, he has a win and two seconds to his credit is as many starts, and if he is brought north for the Auckland summer meeting the son of Night Kaid should get some money before he returns, for he is improving all the time. DOING PLENTY OF WORK. Although. Escalus has- no near engagements, he is getting through plenty of serviceable work under T. A. George's supervision, and the Romeo gelding has never looked better than at present. He has had a couple of races this season, but was hardly, forward enough to reveal his true form, and is likely to be an improved horse the next time he faces the starter. Escalus was a winner on the country circuit last season, and should be capable of paying his way during the present term. SHOULD DO BETTER. In his last start over hurdles, which was on the second day of the Waikato meeting, Cargen was badly placed for the greater part of\ the journey, but eventually finished close up behind the placed horses. This gelding is due to make his next appearance in the Manunui Hurdle race at Taumarunui to-morrow, and if he goes to the post he should show up among the class competing in that event. Cargen has not had much experience over hurdles, but is improving, and promises to pay his way in that department. AUCKLAND RACING CLUB. General entries for th,e summer meeting of tho Auckland Racing Club, and forfeits for tjie Great Northern Foal Stakes, Great Northern Derby, and Royal Stakes close with the secretary, Mr. W. S. Spence, at 5 p.m. to-morrow. WAIPA RACING CLUB. Acceptances for the annual meeting of the Waipa Racing Club close with the secretary, Mr. J. G. Wynyard, Te Awamutu, or Messrs. Blomfield and Co., Shortland Street, Auckland, at 5 p.m. tomorrow. RIDING ENGAGEMENTS. Several Ellerslie jockeys will attend the Taumarunui meeting to be held on Friday and Saturday next. E. Manson has contracted to ride King Willonyx, and Geo. Connor will steer Abbey Dream and Queen Arpa in their respective 'races. L. Dulieu will also fide Tradesman, Steady Fire and Kanapa at the same meeting, and will later proceed to Woodville, where he has been engaged to ride Rory Mor and Kilmezzo. HOLIDAY RACING. Trainers have hardly finalised their holiday arrangements yet, but there would appear to be less likelihood of the same amount of travelling far afield as m recent years (says a Southern writer). However, the Auckland meeting will as usual attract., the best horses. L. G. Morris will be at Ellerslie with Mr. T. A. Duncan's teamV The composition of it ie not yet finalised, but it is almost certain to include Cadland and Laughing Prince. J. Brown will take up Silvermine, Awaken and Arouse; J. Fryer will send up Peter Jackson, and W. Rayner will take Pomp and Midinette. Pillow Flight and Hunting Cry will go from Hawke's Bay,, and from Woodville the crack yotmg'ster Lack will be accompanied 'by Golden Wings and probably one or two others to carry Mr. Keeble s colours. WARWICK FARM. WIN FOR GEMLIGHT. SYDNEY, December 2. The Australian Jockey Club held its races at Warwick Fanm to-day in drizzling rain. The Warwick Farm Handicap resulted as follows:— Gemlight, 7.4 (Knox), 1; Boorcello, C.7 (Lightfoot), 2; Vertigern, 8.7 (McCarten), 3. Seven started. Won by a length and a half. Time, 2.6 1 /4. Huntinque (N.Z.), ridden by Webster, was unplaced in the first division of- the Maiden Handicap.
