ACCIDENT IN CANTERBURY.

CHRISTCHURCH, this day.

William Hobman Cook, a butcher, of Christchurch, was killed and John Wilson, a salesman, seriously injured when a motor truck in which they were riding was struck by a train at the Styx crossing, seven miles from Christchurch, late yesterday. ....

Wilson, it k believed, was demonstrating the truck to Cook. Other vehicles were waiting for a jtrain to pass and the flash signals were operating. It is said that the truck was swung right round and completely wrecked.

Cook, the driver, was flung clear into the cattle stop by the rails and his head was smashed. ■

Wilson was caught and dragged under the engine right across the cattle stop to the points beyond. His -head was injured, his left ankle almost severed, and his chest severely injured.
