NELSON AND MARLBOROUGH.

PROSPECTS OF CANDIDATES. -. MR. ATMORE'S. HARD FIGHT.; . (By,Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. Li the Nelson election there ie a greater/probability of Mr. H. Atmore (Independent) being defeated than for the, last three elections.. Mr. H. E. Everett (Coalition) has been making a good impression on the platform and his honesty of purpose has made many friends for him. With the help of the Coalition banner, even if Mr. Everett does not win, it is certain that he will substantially reduce the large majority which Mr. Atmore had. three years 'ago. Coalition supporters have quiet confidence.' Mr. Atmore has conducted a vigorous campaign in his fight to retain the seat. - Jn, Motueka in a straightout contest between Mr. G: C. CV Black (Independent) and Mr. K. J. Holyoake. (Coalition) it is likely that Mr. Black will win, although: Mr:'Holyoakesis by no- means a weak candidate. • ' In Wairau's triangular fight the resuK appears to be fairly open between Messrs. E.F. Healy (Coalition United) and W. J- Girling (Reform), Mr. E. Meachen (Labour) having little chance. Mr Meachen, however, has. taken the Labour vote from Mr. Healy. The probable result is that Mr. Healy will get home with little to spare.
