RIFLE SHOOTING.
CITY DEFENCE CLUB.
Over ranges of 500 yards and 600 yards members of the City Defence Rifle Club fired in competition at Penrose on Saturday. H. Simmons and R. C. Russell tied for highest score off the rifle, each making 47 at 500 yards and 4G at 600 yards. Id the count-back, Simmons secured first place and won a silver spoon. Scores: —

The second ehoot of the second trophy series was fired over the ranges of 200 and 300 yards for trophies presented liy Messrs. F. W. Combes, E. Starkey and A. G. Smith. Weather conditions were good, a light right variable wind at times causing the marksmen a little trouble. Silver spoons were won by A. W. Powell, K. Da vies and A. M. Jenkinson.
