Nepia, a Training College student, who if leaving 7 the city to take up teaching under the Native School Department in the Gisborne-.dietrict, was farewelled at a meeting of the Akarana Maori Association. Messrs. J. Rukutai* chairman, and W. Paoro eulogised the work done by Mr. Nepia as examiner for the association, and also as lecturer in connection with the anthropological section of the Auckland Institute. Professor O. Savini, who has been conductor for the Christchurch Orchestral. Society's orchestra for the past three years, has been appointed conductor of the orchestra of the. Maharajah of Mysore. He will leave for India next month. Professor Savini ■was born in Florence, where he took out his degrees. His three-act comic opera, "Oro Che Vola" ("Flying GGold") won the prize awarded-for. such work in Milan in 1926.
