PRACTICES IN THE GUI*F
MOVEMENTS OF WARSHIPS.
To carry out exercises in the Hauraki Gulf, H.M.s. Laburnum left port this morning. She will return to Devonport on December 11, and will remain in port until December 21, when she will sail for Whangarei, where she will remain from December 22 until , January 12. The sloop will be at Port Fitzroy from,, January 12 to January 22,. on which date she will return to, Auckland. H.M.s. Veronica, which is completing her overhaul, will leave port on December 7 for exercises in the Gulf. She is to return to port on December 23, and will remain here until January 11, when she will sail for Tauranga. Later in the month she will visit Russell, and she will return to Auckland on January 28. The Naval . Department has given warning of the following gunnery practices to be carried out by the sloops: Laburnum, this afternoon, tomorrow afternoon, and Wednesday afternoon and the morning of December 10; Veronica, the afternoon of December 7, 8, and 9, and the morning of December 10. Night gunnery practice will be carried out on Wednesday and on December 9 and December 10. H.M.s. Diomede, which has - been visiting southern ports during the last two months, is due at Port Fitzroy from Napier on Thursday. She will carry out exercisee in the Gulf before returning to port on December 9.
