BANKRUPTCY COURT.
APPLICANT WITHOUT ASSETS.
SEVERAL DISCHARGES GRANTED.
A bankrupt who had liabilities of £1162 and no assets was refused his discharge by Mr. Justice Smith in the Supreme Court to-day, and told that he must have some assets when next he applies. The applicant was an Auckland tailor, Sidney George Pudney. His Honor said it appeared that the bankrupt had committed no breaches of the Bankruptcy Act, but the application would be dismissed to "teach him that he must have some assets when he applies again." In another application in which bankrupt had no assets his Honor granted a discharge, because it was shown thatj there had been no hardship on anyone. Discharges from 'bankruptcy were granted to the following: Colin Marshall Gordon, of. Dargaville, motor mechanic; James Gilbert White, of Auckland, company manager; Prank Pearse, of Henderson, farmer, and Mabel Jane Pearse, his wife; Harold Bradley Brownrigg, of Epsom, salesman; Alan Basil Sheath, of Auckland, agent; Vincent James Morley, of Papatoetoe, dentist; James Henry Stringer, of Omanawa, near Tauranga, farmer. Adjudged Bankrupts. Orders for adjudication as bankrupts were made against the following: W. Clifton and G. D. Clifton, carrying on business as W. Clifton and Son, Eden Terrace, blacksmiths; E. R. Billing, of Pongakawa, near Te Puke, farmer; and Maurice Smith, of Auckland, clerk; J. Harvey, of Whakamarama, near Tauranga, storekeeper.
