HENDERSON.
A bazaar, flower show and sale of'work in aid of the funds of St. Michael's Anglican Church, was held in the Henderson Town Hall on Thursday afternoon and evening. There was an excellent display of flowering plants and shrubs, and stalls were provided for the sale of fruit and vegetables, cakes, sweets, soft drinks and ice cream, plain and fancy sewing, and also a jumble stall. The fancy sewing stall, provided by the senior girls' club, under the direction of Mrs. Walsh, attracted much attention and many sales were made. A stall for advertising various commodities in daily use, arranged by the Junior Girls' Club, under the supervision of Mrs. Shrecves, also came in for commendation. The opening ceremony was performed byMiss Averill, daughter of Archbishoii Averill, who in a brief speech complimented the workers upon their industry in a good cause and wished them every success. In the evening weight-guessing, candle-light - ing, nail driving and other competitions were indulged in by the younger folk. Tinfloral competition resulted : —l3est collection of roses, Mrs. A. Dollar 1, Mrs. Grey 2 ; best all one kind, Mrs. Pollock 1, Mrs. Morris 2; six varieties pansies. Mrs. Morris 1, Miss Todd 2; pansies, all one kind, Miss Todd 1 and 2; best collection carnations, Mrs. Morgan 3 ; best collection stocks, Mrs. Kibblewhite; best collection sweet peas. Mrs. Lowden 1; best collection cut flowers. Mrs. Pollock 1, Mrs. Lowden 2. Children's section : Best vase. Miss Kibbiewhite 1; best bouquet, Miss Ingham.
