WALKER OUTPOINTS MEESKE
VERDICT CAUSES UPROAR

DUNEDIN, Thursday,
After one of the hardest wrestling contests ever seen in Dunedin George Walker (13.12) beat Billy Meeske (13.5) on points in the Town Hall to-night, each man securing a fall- The bout was chiefly remarkable for the 'marvellous displays of strength given by both wrestlers, who, as they left the ring, appeared little the worse for the gruelling experience. - Meeske did practically all the attacking in the first three rounds, and in the fourth forced Walker to concede a fall with a stepover toe hold. Walker livened up during the fifth and sixth rounds, and early in the seventh, as Meeske was rising from the mat, he was" caught in a body hold, Walker hurling him heavy to the mat to secure a fall with a. body press. The final round was wrestled amid great excitement. Walker frequently threw Meeske to the mat, but the latter was still very fit and always dangerous. Neither man could pin the other and the gong) went without any further fall, the referee awarding the bout to Walker amid a hostile demonstration from a section of I the 'crowd. I
BLIND INSTITUTE FAIR
An outstanding feature of the,monster fair being held next week at the Blind Institute, Parnell, will be a series of amateur wrestling bouts arranged by Mr. James Simpson. These will be staged during the Friday evening and Saturday afternoon sessions. The Auckland amateurs who - won the New Zealand championships at Wellington recently, have promised to compete; also last year's local champion.
