MR. H. F. CHURTON, OF
AUCKLAND
SERVICE OF 42 YEARS,
After service of 42 years with" the firm oi Sharland and Co., the manager for Auckland, If. I'. Churton, recently retired. Almost half a century ago Mr. Churton started with the firm as postboy, and with the passing of the years he has risen to the post of greatest responsibility in the firm in Auckland. The manager of the company, Mr. C. Bruce-Smith, made the retiring Auckland manager a presentation on behalf of the whole staff, of a pair of binoculars. He dwelt on the outstanding qualifications of Mr. Churton, of his long and constant service to the firm, and of the credit due to him for his advance from post-boy to manager. Part of the success of Mr. Churton's regime had been due to his tact and popularity both with his staff and the customers. Mr. Bruce-Smith, echoing the thoughts of the rest of the staff, wished Mr. Churton many years of pleasure and health. Mr. Churton replied briefly and to the point.
