MURDER OF CHEMIST.

SEARCH FOR YOUNG MAN.

INFORMATION FROM PUBLIC.

ALL COMMUNICATIONS WELCOMED,

So far there have been no sensational developments in connection with the brutal murder of the chemist, Mr. Arthur James Blomfield, who was attacked in his pharmacy in Wellesley Street last Friday evening.

The search for a young man who, it is believed, might be able to throw some light on the matter, proceeds, and it is believed that it is not being confined to Auckland. The following is a description 1 of the man:—Between 20 and 23 years old, about sft 9in in height, dark eyes, may be brown, and short, dark, uneven hair which is wavy rather than curly. The man has a small face and fresh complexion, and was wearing a navy blue coat and vest, and trousers which are thought to be brown. It is not known whether he was wearing a collar or tie. He speaks in a quiet voice, is well spoken, and speaks with a colonial accent, his whole appearance being that of a respectable man.

In all murder mysteries much interest |is manifested by the public, majiy of ! whom communicate with the police m the hope that their pieces of information may prove valuable. In this case the public interest is intense, and a police officer remarked to-day that he had never known so many communications to be received as there had been this week. Since last Monday the officers directing the inquiry, Inspector J. W. Hollis and Sub-Inspector Gibson, have received an exceptionally large number of suggestions by letter, telegram and telephone, and many people have called at police headquarters to impart information. All such communications are welcomed. A large staff is continuously engaged inquiring into and checking up information, in the hope that a clue may be obtained.
