Your correspondent "Colonist" seems to think a Government employee is on a good, wicket when retiring on superannuation after thirty-live or forty years' service. Does ha know that the said superannuation consists of five per cent of the employee's pay, that is, a man getting £20 per month has £1 taken for superannuation (no interest allowed) and goes on paying that until he retires at thirty-fiva or forty years, or, like some of the raihvaymen of to-day, is compelled to go off on thirty years' service at about 36/ per week? XYZ.
