GOLDEN WEDDING.
Mr. A. H. Steventon and Mrs. Steventon, of New Lynn, celebrated their golden wedding on Sunday. Mr. Stev'enton arrived in New Zealand with his father's family in 1562 an .Albertla,nd settler in''the Matilda Wattenbach from England, and lived at Wharehine till twenty years of age. He then took up a block of bush land at Mangakura, and farmed it till he retired. Both Mr. and Mrs.. Steventon, }vhp. are aged 77 and 71 respectively, possess good health. Thev have four surviving children: — Mre". Webster, of New Lynn; Mrs. Peterson, Panmure, Sir. R. H. Steventon, Mangakura, and Mr. A. 0. Steventon, of Whangarei. There are. seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. A family gathering was held at the iesidence of their eldest 'daughter, Mrs. Webster, of Matai Avenue, New Lynn, and most of the family were present, also Miss Steventon and Sirs. Boler, sisters of Mr. Steventon, and . Mrs. Gardner, these three having been present at> the wedding 50 years ago. There were four generations represented &t the gathering, and a large number of congratulatory telegrams and messages were received. Mr. and' Mis. Steventon are members of St. Thomas' Anglican Church, New Lynn, and at the conclusion of morning service the vicar, Rev. H. Heaslip, congratulated the couple on behalf of the congregation, and two choir boys presented Mrs. Steventon with a beautiful bouquet and present.
