MURDER OF TWO NURSES.

As the result of s her husband's* public plea that she should' surrender Mrs. Ruth Juddgave herself up to the police yesterday to facilitate the inquiry into the deaths of ] two young women.' at J Los Angeles. . . . •', '...'/'.' < ' \ ■'■',-j: She asserted that . quarreled with . the two dead girls, who were nurses, one of whom shot her in.one hand and the other struck her with an ironing board. Thereupon, said Mrs. Judd, she seized the revolver from the first nurse and.killed, them.both. : \
The woman's hysterical condition prevented' a detailed investigation being made.. .. '-■
The ..bodies- of the victims were .firut noticed by station officials at Phoenix, Arizona, whither they had been transported by rail from Los Angeles. Blood was- seen- to be-oozing from trunks, taken "by the woman to; Phoenix. She then disappeared, but was traced by the number of a car. .
Mrs. Judd; who is;the daughter of a minister and the wife of a doctor, was
reported to have told her , brother . that she had killed the girls," who had worked with her at the Phoenix- medical clinic. George Washington -Bridge, which is said to-have the largest suspension span in. the world, 4760. feet between' anchorages, was opened yesterday across the Hudson River, between New Jersey and New York City. The bridge took 30 months to build, and 4000 men were employed. The cost was £12,000,000, which will be recovered from tolls.
