ELECTION OF OFFICERS

CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA.

The forty-fourth annual general meeting of the Auckland Rowing Association was held in the Chamber of Commerce on Saturday night. Mr. W. Madden, vice-president, presided, and the clubs represented by delegates were: Auckland (1), Waitemata (3), North Shore (3), West End (3), St. George's (3), Hamilton (3), Whangarei (1), Tauranga (1), University (3). Tire report and balance-sheet as presented were adopted. Mr. S. H. Buchanan (Hamilton and Tauranga) spoke of the high standard of rowing throughout the province last season, and the delegates agreed that the clubs should be congratulated. "The fact that three out of four New Zealand championship titles -were held in the province was a splendid illustration."

Congratulations were extended to Mr. AV. G. Mason upon his election to president of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association.

After a lengthy and thorough discussion it was decided that strong representation be made to the New Zealand Rowing Association to waive rule IS, "That the championship regatta shall not be held earlier than. January 31 in each season." This would enable the Hamilton Club to carry out its obligations and maintain the public support. In 1924-25 season, the rule -was "waived" and the regatta held on January 29.

The alteration to the amendment to rules regarding country members brought forward by Mr. V. St. George, was approved.

A remit from the North Shore Club that the season be officially opened by the association with the Barrett Cup race on the new "waterfront course," was approved. Delegates felt that it would stimulate public interest. It was left to the incoming officers to make the necessary arrangements. ,
