TO-NIGHT'S CHANGES
"Daddy Longlegs," a romance of an orphan and her benefactor, opens a season at St. James , Theatre. Janet Gaynor and Warner Baxter fill the leading roles. Ramon Navarro appears as a Hindu aristocrat in "Son of India," the new feature at the Civic Theatre. Madge Evans and Conrad Nagel are also in the cast. The part of a war hero, who hecomee an. advocate of justice against powerful enemies, is played by Richard Dix in "The Public Defender," now screening at the Plaza Theatre. Shirley Grey is the heroine. "Simba," a graphic sound film of native and animal life in the African jungle, and "The Holy Terror," a Western drama starring George O'Brien, are the features at the Strand Theatre. The further adventures of Charlie Chan, Oriental detective, are unfolded in "The Black Camel," a mystery drama of , Hawaii, now showing at the Majestic Theatre. Warner Oland heads a talented cast. Ronald Colman appears as an aristocratic scapegrace in the Lonsdale comedy, "The Devil to Pay," which opens a season at the National Theatre. LqrettoYoung is the heroine. A novel musical ! comedy, "Hold Everything," with Winnie JLightner, Joe E. Brown and Georges Carpentier, the noted boxer, is the main attraction .at the London Theatre. "Laughter," a drama starring Nancy Carroll, and "Social Errors," a comedy with Leon Errol and Richard Arlen, head the Tivoli Theatre programme.
" WHAT A WIDOW." New York, Paris and Monte Carlo provide a variety of gay settings for the romantic comedy, "What a Widow," which has ite premiere at' the Regent Theatre to-day. Gloria Swanson gives a lively characterisation as a young widow.who, while on a trip to Europe, captures many hearts on board an Atlantic liner and adds still further to her conquests when she sets out on her Continental tour. The efforts of her many suitors to thwart each other provide many amusing complications, and the final victory of the young attorney, who remains true to her, brings the story to a happy conclusion. Owen Moors and Lew Cody fill the male, leads. A special stage attraction will be a breathtaking exhibition of adagio dancing by the Aero Four, three men and a girl, who have appeared in several Hollywood films. A full orchestra will be in attendance, and selections will bo played by Paul Cullen at the grand organ.LITTLE THEATRE COMEDY. Ben Levy's popular comedy, "Tlua Women Business," will again be presented by the Little Theatre. Society at the Town Hall concert chamber this evening, and finally to-morrow evening. I The play, which has proved an butstanding success, concerns the difficulties of a group of men who attempt to live together without seeing or even thinking of women. Mr. Gaston Mcrvale is the producer, and the cast includes many well-known local players. KNOX HOME CONCERT. The Neville Carlscn Revue Company gave an excellent concert at the Knox Home last evening. Items were contributed by. Meedames G. Davies, J. de Rose, Misses L. Skinner, J. Tucker, K. Teague, S. Elsmore, D. Lockwood, Messrs. S. Wilkinson, E. Huia, J. Calvert, G. Davies, C. Rusben, J. De Silva, J. O'Kane, P. Wright, E. Tooley and N. Carlscn. Mrs. J. Holt was the accompanist. *•»
