SOCCER TITLE.
CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL Y.M.C.A. PLAY THISTLE. BLANDFORD PARK TO-MORROW.
A few weeks ago Thistle and Y.M.C.A. met in the second round of the senior competition at a time when only one point would have given the latter the title of champions for the second season in succession, but the Scots were too good for their opponents asd by capturing the points placed themselves on an even footing, making a play-off necessary. Consequently the game to-morrow is infested with more than usual interest and a very keen struggle is anticipated. Misfortune has been with the Y.M.C.A. somewhat in the closing weeks of the season and some of their iprominent players have come by injuries, causing their absence from the team. Though, the eleven will not be at full strength to-morrow, the club has sufficient promising talent to field a side that will do all credit to itself. Tiiistle are- expected to be at full strength and will no doubt start favourites, but Y.M. have always shown themselves determined and plucky fighters, which makes the result anything but a foregone conclusion.
Interest •' centres in the curtain-raiser because of the appearance of Glen. Innes, who last Saturday won promotion to the senior grade by their defeat of Celtic. Glen Innes will play Burnley in the Dacre Cup final. Y.M.C.A. Seniors.—Hilliard, Mowat, McGladdery, Thompson, R. Riddolls, Chalmers, Malcolm, Humphreys, Hamilton, Thornes, Riddolls, Kay. . THISTLE. Seniors.—Gerrard, Chapman, Williams, McLean, Wright, Watson, Cummings, Hislop, McLeay, Gill, Woods. Reserve: W. Kennedy.
