BUSINESS HOUSES.
MID-WEEK COMPETITION. Customs met Grand Hotel in this competition, and the -game ended in a draw of one goal each, after a keen struggle. Customs were the first to show up, and nearly scored twice, the ball just flicking past the post on both occasions. The ball travelled from end to end with amazing rapidity, and from a melee in front of Customs goal, Grand Hotel missed a great chance, Bolton and Bradley being conspicuous. Bradley, shortly afterwards, was tripped in the penalty area, but the Hotel failed with the resultant spot-kick. Newman again showed up for Customs, and from a welljudged pass, he beat Russell all the way. This put the Grand Hotel on their mettle, and Customs were forced to concede several corners in rapid succession. Half-time was called shortly afterwards. On the resumption of play the Hotel side was aggressive, and continually bombarded the Customs goal, but without success. Neither team could make much headway until five minutes before the final whistle, when Wiseman equalised with a good, low shot from twenty yards out. Customs, 1; Grand Hotel 1.
