TO-DAY.

' , WELLESTGTOJST, this day. lie funeral of Mr. Elsdon Best this morning was attended fey a large and representative gathering, including members "of the Government arid the Legislature, heads of Government Departments, and members of the Board of Maori Ethnological Research, the Polynesian Society, and the t?eograpliic Board, and also a number of members of the Maori race. The service at St. Paul's ProCathedral was conducted bj the Bishop of Aotearoa, the Rt. Rev. P. A. Bennett, the vicar of St. PauFs, Canon James, and the vicar of Wadestown. the Eev. Ashley Jones. The pall bearers were Sir Apirana Sfgata, and MessrsJohannes Anderson, P. J. Kelleher, A. Morris Jones, W. R. B. Oliver, TV. J. Phillips, H. R. H. Balneavis, and Dr. E. Marsden. The committal service at the crematorium at Karori was conducted by Canon James and the Eev. Ashley'Jones.
