WOMAN'S DEATH.
FRACTURE OF SKULL.
EVIDENCE AT-INQUEST.
A verdict that Ellen Gower died of a fractured skull, which" she sustained on July, 6, was returned by the coroner, Mr.' F. K. Hunt, S-M., at the inquest this afternoon. Mrs. Gower, who was 49 years of age, was admitted to tlie Auckland Hospital on August 30, when she had fallen on to the kitchen floor of her home at 142. Parnell Eoad. - She was unconscious when admitted, and died the following morning. Dr. Gilmbur, who conducted the postmortem examination, said that Mrs. Gower had been suffering from a fractured skull. It did not have the appearance of being a recent fracture. Evidence was given by the husband, also by Miss O'Leary and Patrick Hughes that on July 6 there had been an argument between Hughes and Mr. Gower. The latter had been pushed on to the floor and Mrs. Gower had gone to his assistance. Neither Mr. Gower nor Miss O'Leary saw Hughes strike Mrs. Gower, and Hughes denied doing so. Miss O'Leary said she saw deceased get up from the floor. She had a slight cut on the side of her. head and witness thought it had been caused by a comb which she wore. \. ; , The.coroner found that death was due : to an accident. : ■'■■:'■:'-. .. ,
