ARMAMENTS TRUCE?
PROPOSAL BY ITALY.

RUGBY, September 9.
In addressing the Assembly of the League of Nations yesterday Signor Grandi, the Italian Foreign Minister, proposed an armaments truce until after the forthcoming Disarmament Conference. He said it was necessary to act not only with courage and moderation, but also good faith.
.By an immediate armaments truce and the suspension of all programmes of armaments, said Signor Grandi, thiey would set an example of good will and create an atmosphere of confidence. ANOTHER MEMBER.
MEXICO JOINS LEAGUE,
MEXICO CITY, September 9. The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senor Genaro Estrada, announced that Mexico had accepted the invitation to •join the League of Nations. The acceptance would be forwarded to Geneva today. The Assembly of the League at its' meeting decided to send the invitation.
