A musical comedy of life in Vienna, "The Love Waltz," has its premiere at the Plaza Theatre to-day.- John Batten, young Auckland actor, and-Lilian Harvey fill the romantic roles. ■ "Young Sinners," a society drama starring Thomas Meighan,- Hardie Albright and Dorothy Jordan, is the main attraction at the Civic Theatre. A special feature is an exhibition by Torn Lurich's troupe of wrestlers. Seymour Hicks heads a talented English cast in the Parisian comedy, "The Love Habit," which opens a season at the Majestic Theatre. Margot Grahame and Edmund Breo'n are among the supporting players. The "main feature at the Strand Theatre"is a novel society comedy, "Maid to Order." Julian Eltinge, famous female impersonator, fills the dual role of hero and heroine. A Ben Travers' farce, "A Chance of a Night Time," has its premiere at the Regent Theatre. Ralph Lynn is inimitable as. an embarrassed lawyer. Winifred Shooter is the heroine.' "Viennese Nights," the lavish musical romance in technicolour, begins its second week at the St. James' Theatre. A thrilling sea drama, "Derelict," opens a season at, the National Theatre. George Bancroft arid William Boyd appear as .rival _ ship's officers. Lavish settings and delightful songs are features of the musical comedy, "Whoopee," now screening at the London Theatre. Eddie Cantor provides some delightful comedy. . HOSPITAL CONCERT. The patients of Ward 26 at the Auckland Hospital were entertained at a concert on Wednesday evening arranged by j Mrs. Raeburh and Mr., A., Hamblin. A programme was given by IZR Broadcast ing Choir under the direction of Mr. J. W. McElwain, consisting of items by the choir, songs, monologues, • pianoforte solos and violin solos. Those taking part were: Misses E. Veal, Mollie Cater, R. Wynn, E. Hawkins, Mrs. de Silva, Mrs. K. King," Mrs. A. Maskell, Messrs. Jack Hardman, I. Boagey, T. Ellison, D. Kerr and J.W. McElwain: Miss Cater was the accompanist. -'. "DRAMA THROUGH THE AGES." Under the title Through the Ages," the W.E.A. wilL present a pageant at the Technical College Hall this evening and to-morrow evening. The great drama of four periods will be represented' by excerpts from' Euripides, Shakespeare, Sheridan and Shaw. Music characteristic of each period will be supplied from the works of Bach, Gluck, Coleridge-Taylor, Alfred Reynolds and John Ireland. This will be directed by Mr. John.Tait, with the assistance of Miss Lois Walls and Miss Lalla Hemus. The dances for the Greek play have been arranged by Madame Baird. The -whole production is being directed by Mr. Arthur Parsons, who produced "In the Spacious Days" last year.
