ECONOMISTS HEARD TO-DAY.

The end of the work of the Interparty Committee is now practically in sight, according to a statement made by the 'Prime Minister last night. He said that the committee would sit today and to-morrow, and he expected the taking of evidence would be completed 'by Wednesday, and that the committee would be in a position to/present its report to the House by the following Tuesday. The witness examined yesterday afternoon was Sir Henry Buckleton, manager of the Bank of New Zealand. Witnesses who gave evidence in the morning on behalf of-the dairy farmer have it is xmderstood,' made a strong point of the necessity for a reduction of the rates of interest on mortgages, and of seeing" that production is'not allowed to suffer through inadequacy of fertiliser supplies. *•--.'
