SOLD WIFE'S FURNITURE.
HUSBAND WHO DESERTED. COURT GRANTS DIVORCE. Desertion was alleged by a wife, Annie Wilson McCully (Mr. R. S. Burt), who sought a divorce from Rutherford Denholm Wardell McCully, before Mr. Justice Herdman, in the Supreme Court to-day. Petitioner said in evidence tha> she was married to the respondent at the Napier registry office on August 25, 1921, and had lived with him at Napier, Inglewood and other places. There was one child.
"My husband was always drinking," she said. "There was trouble practically from the beginning, and I had to earn my own living." On on© occasion, she said, she had to get the assistance of a policeman to protect her, and she had to leave her home not long afterwards. In her absence respondent sold the furniture, which belonged to her, and went away. She had not lived with him since May 19, 1927.
