Stenz (Garden City, New York), 6—2, 0—1; Mrs. Moody eliminated Edith Signourney (Boston), 6—o, 6--0; Miss Helen Jacobs defeated Miss Couvorst (Wichita, Kansas), 6—2, 6—2; Miss Joan Ridley (England) defeated Miss Clara Zinke (Cincinnati), o—4, 6—3; Miss Dorothy Round (England) defeated Mrs. Lamme (Rye, New York), 6—3, 6—3; Mrs. Whittingstall (England) defeated Miss Rosamond Newton (Brooklinc), 6—l, 0—0; Mrs. Shep-herd-Barron (England) defeated Miss Mary Keler (New York), o—o, 6—l; Miss Phyllis Mudford (England) eliminated Mrs. Hubbard (Lancaster, Mass.), 6—3, 6—l. In the final of the men's singles at the Eastern States lawn tennis championships at Rye, F. J. Perry (Britain) defeated Gilbert Hall (New Jersey), 6—3, 6—2, 6—4. In the opening round on Monday of the Casino invitation tournament at Newport Perry (England) eliminated Nordstrom (Seattle), 6—2, 6—4; Hughes (England) defeated Hobbs (Newport), G—3, 6—4.
