PROLONGED TREMOR.
HEAVY 'QUAKE IN TEXAS.
NEW YORK, August 17,
A message from Denver, Colorado, says recurring earthquakes shook the west of Texas and the eartern parts of New Mexico yesterday and did considerable damage to property.
The main shock lasted 38 minutes. Its centre was at Fort Stockton, Texas, where houses rocked, sleepers were thrown from their beds and the walls of several office buildings were cracked] In El Paso, Texas, when the tremors cracked the walls and broke windows and dishes, people fled from their homee.
