BY SERVICE CAR.

HINTS TO TRAVELLERS.

ADVICE FROM A DRIVER,

A service car driver, "L.P.," who writes from Opotiki, gives the following advice to users of service cars:—

Never mind what time the car is to call for you—be at least a quarter of an hour late.

Bring as much luggage as possible. Big cabin trunks are preferable, as there is plenty of room on the small carrier. Don't forget to bring;numerous parcels. The other passengers iwon't mind them jammed down around their feet. Then again a few small parcels under the brake or clutch pedals are handy if you have to change gear or. stop in a hurry.

Don't forget to bring your pets—birds, cats- or dogs. Doge,;-never get car sick! Ask the driver to stop as many times as you can. He is in no hurry, because they run to a time-table. Don't forget to ask the driver if he ever has an accident, or if he ever gets a puncture. He never does, but it's just as well to be sure.

If you smoke, don't strike your matches on a match box. Strike them on the side glasses or windscreen —even the back of the front seat is a good place. Throw your used matches and cigarette butts on the floor. The mats are quite easily cleaned. If you are short of smokes, cadge one off the driver; he always has plenty.
