GEAR-CHANGING.
A.A.A. WILL HELP NEW
DRIVERS.
POST-LICENSE TUITION.
To encourage motorists to obtain a closer knowledge of the operation of their vehicles,, the Auckhuvl Automobile Association is now making available for a limited period, free of cost, its postlicense tuifloir. "" • ■' ' "^
Many drivers who have, obtained their driving certificates, and perhaps who have been driving cars for. several months, or even years, are not altogether at home behind the wheel. They have not the knack of operating the gears silently and quickly. They cannot decide instantaneously when in a tight corner whether to apply the brakes or to accelerate. They cannot quite judge the distance between the wheel and the kerb when drawing up to park, and a dozen other of the finer points of driving are burdensome.. Naturally a driver of this sort cannot be as safe as one who has mastered the art of driving.
The , A.A.A. post license tuition teaches all these little points and enables, motorists to derive more enjoyment from their motoring. Under its unemployment- scheme, a- special instructor has been appointed by the A.A.A., who has had considerable experience in this phase of motoring, and members of the association are "invited to avail themselves of the privilege without charge. This service is not confined to city members, and members of the association residing in country districts are eligible for tuition on application.
