THE ANNUAL MEETING.

MEMENTO FOR PRESIDENT.

The annual meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club was held yesterday afternoon, the Hon. E. W. Alison, the president, being in the chair. The president's remarks were published yesterday, and at the conclusion great appreciation was expressed at the services he had rendered to the club since its inauguration fifty years ago, both es a committeeman and as president. It was decided to mark the occasion by presenting him with a suitable memento.

It was also agreed to forward to the Racing Conference a motion urging the publication of dividends and the transmission of money by telegraph to the totalisator.

The retiring committeemen, Dr. A. J. Friedlander and Messrs. L. Alderton and R. T. Michaels, were re-elected unopposed.

THE WAIKATO HUNT.

CAMBRIDGE BRANCH.

CAMBRIDGE, Monday.. Notwithstanding this eeason is nearing the end there were 100 at the meeting of the Cambridge branch of the Waikato Hunt at Bruntwood on Saturday. The field was Jed by the master, Mr. Wynn Brown, with Ned Brown, as first whip, and 16 couple of hounds. The day was one of the best this eeason, harea being plentiful, and some exceptionally long gallops were enjoyed, one kill (being registered. The hounds worked very quickly on Saturday and there was some fast riding over hard country, with several spills. The master, on Tattler, came to grief at the end of a long run, when the mount got.caught in a wire fence. Tattler was cut about and will not be seen out again this season. While riding her mount Atapas, Mrs. Geo. Ranetead had a nasty fall, but neither rider nor horse was badly injured, The field was entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hardy.

RIDING ENGAGEMENTS.

Additional riding engagements for the Pakuranga meeting are: R. Olive, Land Measure; J. IJurgess, General Lu and Lenaubin; F. Fergus, Full Measure, Muskon, Excella Tea; F. McGovern, Scaramouche; C. T. Fuller, Hampton Park.

BEEN GALLOPING WELL.

Meprisant had been galloping well at Biccarton prior to the Grand National meeting, and he had his first start this season in the Selwyn Handicap on Saturday, finishing second to Historic. He was at a long price to win, and he was unlucky to strike Historic at his best. Meprisant commenced racing as a three-year-old a couple of seasons ago and won a couple of races. Last season he had eight races and was second on four occasions and third once. He was runner-up in the Otokio Handicap, one mile, at Dunedin, second in the Orbell Handicap, seven furlonge, at Waikouaiti, and occupied similar positions in the Courtney and Post Handicaps, seven furlongs, at Riccarton, and third in the Yaldhurst Handicap, one mile, on the eame course. Meprisant is by Paladin from Disdainful, a full-sister to Reproachful, the dam of Chide. He is owned and trained by G. Murray-Aynsley at Riccarton.
