BIG GAME FISHING.

ANNUAL MEETING AT RUSSELL,
About 20 members attended the annual meeting at Ruesell of the Bay of Islands Swordfish and Mako Shark Clu'b. Br. T. T. Hoskms, a vice-president, presided.
The secretary, Mr. H. Stonex, gave a statement of the fish caught during the season, and the trophies, etc., won. The total number of big game fish caught wae 76, including a world 's record mako shark, 7981b, caught by Mr. H. White-Wickham, of London. The fish caught were:—4l mako sharks, average weight 248%1b; 20 swoxdfish, 2791b; 6 hammerhead sharks, 3331b; one thresher shark, 5231b; 8 kinßfish, 51%1b.
The challenge cups were won as follows:—C.A.C. Cup, Mr. H. White-Wick-ham; vice-president's cup, Mr. Lee Ridge, of Auckland; Mr. Kohn's model Maori carved house, for competition amongst the launchmen, Mr. H. Vipond, of the launch Ozone, of Russell; Mr. Watson's cash prize of £5 5/ for launchmen of both Whangaroa and Russell Clubs catching the heaviest fish wae won by Mr. Francis Arlidge, of Russell. Mr. Wateon'e cup was won by Mr. H. White-Wickham. The launchmen's trophy, value £5 5/, was won by Mr. C. Stewart, of Singapore.
Mr. Kohn's gold and silver fish trophies were won ae follows: —Gold miniature mako, Mr. White-Wickham, of London; silver miniature makos, Messrs. Trevor S. Withers, Auckland; H. P. Hobson, Auckland; Geo. Ellis, , Russell; Lee Ridge, Auckland; Mrs. S. Adamson, Russell; silver swordfish, Mr. Jas. Stellin, Wellington, and Mr. S. Stewart, Singapore.
The club officials elected were:— Patrons, Col. Allen Bell and Captain Rushworth, M.P.; president, Mr. Allan E. Bisset; vice-presidents, Dr. T. T. Hoskins and Messrs. C. F. Baker, sen., E. G. Hewin and V. Lindauer; secretary, Mr. H. Stonex; treasurer, Capt. A. E. Neumann; committee, Col. Mabin, Messrs. A. E. Fuller, P. Cross, H. Fuller, Leon Warne, T. S. Adamson, J. P. English, J. B. WilUams and H. Vipond; official weighmaster, Capt. A. E. Neumann; auditor, Mr. J. Annitage; photographers, Messrs. F. Baker and F. M. Russell. Mr. J. Armitage was made a life member.
It was decided, owing to the general depression, not to hold the challenge dinner during the coming season between the Whangaroa Club and Russell.
