The Auckland Friendly Societies' .Indoor Bowling Association hold their first women's .champion pairs,. tourney at the Little Green, on Saturday next, and on the following Saturday, starting each day at 1.30 sharp. The winners of this tourney will each receive as own property a-minia-ture cup; and they will hold for one year, on : behalf of their lodge, the Hoverd Banner. • '
The following is the draw:—Mrs. Tetley and Mrrf. Waugli v. Mrs. Micldeborough and Mrs. Holland, Mrs. Burbidge and Mrs. Stein v. Mrs. Hoy and Miss Dines, Misses Brown and Williamson v. Mesdames Young and Rout, Mesdames Dilly. and Boles v. Mesdames Gelding and McMahon, Mesdames Dent and Miller v. Mesdames Kayes and Francis. Miss Cambridge and Mrs. Kingdon, a bye. ' : • Ten games of seven heads will be played, thus enabling each team to play all others. Many of the sisters are quite capable skips, not afraid of a. firm shot if required, and the play should be of quite a high standard. Their keenness is proverbial, not the least keen ■ being" the senior member, a grandmother, who indulges in such luxuries as a daily cold bath, a day's work rushed into half a day, an afternoon at croquet anil finishes up the evening at indoor bowls. Very few of those, even in the early twenties, are niore active.
The finals of the open fours championship tourney -will be played at the Little Green on Tuesday night, starting, at T. 30. The following is the draw for. the tmro round :— i_, , Sullivan v. Jones, both two-lifers; Blackwell v. Cutler, both one-lifers. To-morrow night (Wednesday) the members of the Indoor Bowling Association and their friends and any persons interested in the game of indoor bowls, are to be the guests of the proprietors of we new public bowling green situated "» Vulcan Lane.. That night is to be the official opening, and the management are leaving the arrangements for the onemn., ceremony in the hands of the Indoor Boeing Association. There will be charge for the games, but a nominal charge wu be made for refreshments, which f lllD * served during the evening. Intending players should be present by 7.30, so taai the draw can be made promptly. ORANGE ASSOCIATION.
